"A Better Way to Resolve Disputes"

My goal is to help YOU retain control over your personal legal issues, rather than requiring a judge to determine what is in your family's best interests. My practice focuses on family law issues. These include divorce, adoption, custody, visitation, child support, and parental rights. I am a mediation-friendly attorney and will review your settlement agreement created through mediation. I am also a collaborative law attorney who believes in the non-adversarial process for resolving family disputes.

I have been trained in Divorce Mediation and I am able to provide mediation services for a variety of conflicts. I can mediate disputes surrounding family issues, as well as any conflict that may have arisen between two parties, such as neighbor-to-neighbor disagreements or private disputes.

I am a trained Collaborative Law attorney who believes that family conflicts can often be better resolved outside of the courts. This means I will represent you as your attorney. All negotiations are done in cooperation with another collaborative law attorney and with the other family member involved in the dispute. Together, we agree to resolve all the issues out of court and present a joint agreement to the court at the end of the process. I am qualified to provide you with my services through Limited Assistance Representation, or "LAR". LAR allows an attorney to make a limited appearance on behalf of an unrepresented party for a specific purpose. It allows me to "ghost write" court documents for you. It allows me to negotiate on your behalf or advise you without full representation in court. LAR can help cut your legal costs by "unbundling" the services provided by a lawyer.

I can help you by using either the Mediation process, the Collaborative Law process, or through Limited Assistance Representation in order to resolve your family disputes associated with divorce, separation, post-divorce modifications, non-traditional family issues, prenuptial agreements, relationship agreements, or any other family issues that may require court intervention.

I was educated at Boston University and Western New England College School of Law. I am a member of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, Inc., the Association for Conflict Resolution, New England Chapter, the Hampden County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

  • Admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Offices are conveniently located at "the X" in Springfield.
  • No-charge parking and PVTA bus stops are nearby.

If you would like more information, call (413) 224-2090 or send an email to Info@JoannaCobleigh.com. Feel free to contact me if you would like to set up a reduced-fee initial consultation for legal representation or for a collaborative law consultation. Consultations for mediation are free. I am a collaborative law attorney who believes in the non-adversarial process for resolving family disputes. I can also "unbundle" my services when appropriate in order to provide you with a cost effective legal solution if you wish limited assistance with your legal issues.
